THE OLIVE MILL AT QUEEN CREEK

ESCAPE FROM THE DRS. APPOINTMENTS

We do escape the confines of doctor’s offices sometimes. We recently explored a little town south of us called Queen Creek. We were looking for an olive mill that is there, Queen Creek Olive Mill. We only had rough directions so we got to lots of the surrounding land. We were surprised at so much agricultural field is still in use although housing developments are starting to encroach there also.

The olive mill was a busy place so obviously other people found it easily. They grow and crush their own olives to make oils that include an amazing variety. After buying a bottle of fine oil for salads, we enjoyed a delicious lunch with Italian overtones. We didn’t take the tour offered as they had finished actual pressing for the season.

From there we went down the road to a wonderful fresh pork butcher shop, The Pork Shop. The assortment was almost overwhelming. We finally settled on some Italian sausage, barbecue pulled pork, brats and maple-flavored breakfast sausage. I have since cooked some of the pork and it is amazingly fat free. We then discovered an easy direct route home.

We also recently attended a 60th anniversary party of a couple at the Pueblo, the first park that we opened. It was a wonderful celebration and great to see many old friends. As usual, people thanking us for our foresight in starting RVing Women and opening the women’s parks swarmed us. It is nice to be appreciated.

We are also going to a dinner here in our park tomorrow night. It is paid for from an award our street got for winning the Christmas decorating this year. Oh the social whirl never ends!
