THE PATIO ON OUR HOUSEBOAT ROOF

STILL ON THE DELTA WITH OUR BOATS

Our Fleet

We continue to add to our “fleet”. Toni had an old Livingston fiberglass dinghy that Zoe patched up for use. Toni bought an electric trolling motor for it and now we can ‘tool around’ leisurely. It is wonderful to cruise along silently and without gasoline odors. When you add the remote-controlled toy sailboat of Russell’s and our remote-controlled toy powerboat to our houseboat, dinghy and powerboat, Mexico may be quaking about a possible invasion by us.

The weather continues to be warm (in the 90s) but the nights are cooler (in the 50s). Our two air-conditioners have kept us nice and cool during the 100s. We had a good visit with Zoe’s daughter Susan and her granddaughter Lara. They got to try out the patched dinghy as well as the float behind the powerboat.

The hammocks on the top deck have been a nice respite from the continual round of lab tests for Lovern. She finally has a pre-op appointment on Sept. 8 and will have an operation on her back as soon as those tests are approved. She is having two titanium “spacers” (Xstop) placed between vertebrae to take the pressure off the nerves there. We are hoping this will be the answer to her increasing pain and inability to walk. It is a minor operation and she will be able to come home the next day. If it doesn’t work, we will have more invasive surgery to fuse her spine next year. We have had to cancel the Elderhostel tour of Anasazi ruins as we want to be very sure she is all healed before our cruises to New Zealand and New Caledonia in Nov. and Dec.
