TUBING IN THE DELTA

More Delta

We now have a tube for fun behind the power boat. We had a good opportunity to check it out when our friends Wendy and Trudy from Oklahoma visited us recently. Zoe and Wendy especially enjoyed riding the boat’s wake.

The wildlife here continues to fascinate us. We have learned that there are over 50 varieties of fish and 300 types of birds and wildlife here on the Delta. We were surprised to find a nest of baby sparrows right on our dock in the top of a pipe. They flew on their maiden flights the next couple of days afterwards.

Lovern continues to have rounds of doctors’ visits with her blood thinning checks and her back exams at the UC Davis hospital in Sacramento. So far there are no definitive answers, just more blood tests, CT scans and xrays. We are pushing for some resolution so that she will be able to walk at the Elderhostel tour of Anasazi sites in New Mexico and Colorado that we will attend in October. Visiting the hospital in Sacramento has given us a chance to explore Sacramento more and to appreciate the abundance of city parks and huge old trees that line the neighborhoods. We now understand why Sacramento is called the City of Trees.

We attended a WNBA basketball game in Sacramento between the Sacramento Monarchs and the Phoenix Mercury. We found it a quandary about which team to support, our old favorite or our new local team. It was an excellent game even though Phoenix lost. It was encouraging to see the hundreds of young children that they had brought to view the game. The next generation of players.
